Roger Baker aka the "Militant Methodist" |
Okay, anyone announcing themselves as a "militant Methodist" has some explaining to do. Maybe a lot of explaining. This is the place where you get the explanation ("Change Agenda" button) plus links to cool stuff, some great free downloads, and some insights into what I'm up to and what the "Militant Methodist" goals are this year. I'm an elder (minister) in the United Methodist Church currently on a year of family leave while I learn to live life with multiple sclerosis (MS). I'm a father of two active boys (ages 5 & 7) and a devoted husband. I have a great family! As a hopeful change agent in the UM church, I'm focused mostly in my own annual conference but also work in the wider church. I seek to promote equity of training, compensation, and opportunity for laity and clergy. I have a special passion to support the role of the local pastor. Most of the "Cool stuff" is especially for local pastors. Maybe someday we'll return them to the role of "local elder!" As a preacher, I enjoy narrative stories and humor as ways to enliven the Gospel story. Worship should be joyous as well as meaningful. As an ecumenist, I try to live out the idea that what connects us --Jesus Christ--is more powerful than the disagreements that divide us. |
